Changed into my #TimesUp shirt to work on the campaign.
I want to listen to your concerns. I want to use your tax money wisely. I want St. Charles County to be a place where everyone has the tools they need to be successful.
St. Charles County is a fantastic place to live and work for so many of us. The unemployment rate is below that of the state and of the country. We are the most financially well-off county in Missouri in per capita income. And if that's the case, why is the opioid epidemic killing our friends and neighbors? Why are there children in our county who go to bed hungry? Why are there service industry jobs going unfilled? What is YOUR St. Charles County Council doing with our taxes to help fix the things that need fixing? I will bring my common sense life experience, my management experience, and my team-building skills to the County Council and go to work for you!Want to know more?
I'm Christine Hedges and I'm running for the St. Charles County Council seat in District 3. I'm running because when my parent divorced, my mom found herself a single parent with 4 kids under age 10 and without a high school diploma. We relied on WIC for milk, juice, and cereal. We qualified for free school lunches. Mom was panicked about how she was going to make ends meet when she was selected for a grant under the Job Training Partnership Act. When that grant ran out, she was hired and ended up working for the local mental health agency for 40 years. My 3 brothers and I all earned bachelor's degrees and all 4 of us work in IT. Mom got her GED, then earned a bachelor's degree, and went on to earn a master's degree in Social Work. When I look around and see folks trying to destroy the programs that people in need rely on to help pull themselves up, it makes me angry. I want to enter public service in order to serve all of the residents of the County, including folks who need a helping hand in tough times.
Since I first took an interest in local government, I have met so many wonderful people in my community. And I've learned that, regardless of political views, we all want the same things. We want to be safe and healthy. We want clean air, safe water, good roads, good schools. We want our children to learn and play and grow and ultimately, to be successful. As your County Councilwoman, I pledge to work toward a County that works for all of us!

I have been proud to serve on the Advisory Board for this wonderful organization for 9 years. In addition, I served as Mother Advisor for 3-1/2 years. Working with kids is incredibly fulfilling.
I started a new position at my company in December 2017, one in which I am responsible for guiding a group of software developers, architects, and quality engineers to successful project delivery. I mentor, plan, facilitate, and coordinate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. These are the skills I will bring to my work on the Council.
Resistance is about standing against policies that I believe are harmful to my community. MoveOn.org offered 1000 motivated people across the country the opportunity to train with professional organizers in order to learn how to be better organizers ourselves. I am proud that I was chosen to participate and I am proud that I graduated.
